Featured: Art Deco Dapper Hour Shoot
While I had fully intended to hibernate until January (in a cave of holiday card rush orders, of course), I decided to make an appearance to share a recent shoot that even my husband is excited about. Why? Because it made it to his all-time favorite website: BuzzFeed! My husband loves me an all, but he isn't really up and up when it comes to stationery and weddings. Being featured on Martha Stewart Weddings might be my own professional goal, but to my husband, I have officially made it now that something of mine is on BuzzFeed
Alright, enough chatter about my husbands lack of interest in Martha Stewart, and on to the real topic at hand; this deliciously dapper Art Deco inspired engagement shoot. The creative vision for this shoot came from Kate, of H&H Weddings and Leah, of Color Pop Events, and yes, it was featured on BuzzFeed. Here are some paper highlights, shot by the talented Brookelyn Photography.
Leah reached out to me a few months ago and was all "gold, emerald, dapper, art decor, bull dog, equality, black, white, moody, New Year's Eve" and I was all "YES! YES! Let's DO this!". And we did.
The inspiration came from Kate of H&H Weddings, which is a website devoted to highlighting beautiful, inspiring, and stunning same-sex wedding celebrations. The shoot took place at 501 Union and brought together over a dozen talented wedding professionals (and one dapper bulldog named Remy).
Sincerely, Jackie created all of the paper goods, and I loved the creative freedom. Gina Paola Design did her thing and illustrated the most adorably dapper little bulldog to serve as the shoot's mascot. Working with Gina was fantastic, and I loved bringing her illustration to life through my stationery designs. The invitations were printed in black ink on gold metallic paper and paired with an emerald green envelope and a black-on-black moody floral envelope liner.
The bar area might have been my favorite part of the shoot. Whether it's a coffee bar or a booze bar, I sure do love my beverage set-ups. Bars are a great way to add some custom stationery and design elements to a celebration. I decked out the bar with metallic emerald foil bulldog coasters (phew, that's a mouthful!), and stirrers for the bubbly. The drink stirrers showcased square tags with my favorite bulldog and a few simple sentiments of good cheer. The tags were then attached to gold-wrapped wooden skewers. How fantastic do the stirrers look hanging out together in those black and white bottles?
The bar wasn't the only well dressed part of the shoot. The models were decked out in dapper suits, dripping in sequins, and studded with incredible jewels. To view the full shoot feature, please head on over to H&H Weddings, you will not be disappointed. And, of course, to read the article my husband read, visit BuzzFeed.
