HEIRLOOM HIGHLIGHT: FLOUNCE FEATURED IN INSPIRED BY THIS FOR A FLORIDA TROPICAL WEDDING SHOOT

Sitting down to write this post sent actual chills running down my spine. I worked on this shoot in early 2016, and it was featured in Inspired By This on May 25, 2016. That day, and many of the days surrounding it, will always be etched in my memory. On May 25, 2016, my pregnancy became toxic, I started going into organ failure, and it was the very last night before my son, Richard was born.

To be honest, I don't really remember Cathy, of Cathy Durig Photography, reaching out with the good news that this shoot was featured. I was in the hospital, not checking emails, and by the time I was home and attempting to sort through work, the feature email slipped past me. Months later, when my life finally began resembling "normal" again, I went through the months of features that I was beyond behind in, and found the photos from this very shoot. My jaw dropped. It was so, so beautiful, and I got misty-eyed knowing there was such a beautiful feature that happened, that I was a part of, during one of the hardest times of my life.

Since the shoot, Cathy and I have followed along with each other as we've both become boy-moms, and she always reminds me of the beauty that exists in this journey. Thank you, Cathy, for having me be a part of this shoot!

For this shoot, Charmaine and I worked together to create the Flounce design. Flounce is a twist on the classic Flourish, but with an element of fun, and done in gold. What's better than a fun take on a classic? And, of course, gold calligraphy makes everything better. I love, love, love the way Cathy pulled together the mint, aqua, and orange colors for a fun, tropical wedding design. And that gold sequined bridesmaid dress? It's a favorite, for sure!

The wedding shoot took place at The Vinoy in St. Petersberg, Florida. Does it not make you want to pack your bags right this very moment and hop on a plane?
